Adoptee Voices: What Goes Around #NAAM

What Goes Around….
By ONCE WAS VON

Here in the good life, the struggle for wellness and good health go on; a day-to-day effort against the forces of adoption, or so it seems at times, when having to confront the damage, realising that everything relates, goes back to that one source….the stress, distress and shame of my mother when I was in utero, after my birth and in the trauma of my placement with strangers, in which I was initially starved by the inexperienced and inexpert.
"Those non-adoptees who like to tell us adoptees to get over it, to stop blaming adoption for all our ills and the things that go wrong in our lives or are difficult to encounter, accept and recover from, would do well to seriously consider the evidence, the research and the findings relating to the early formation of the fetus, birth trauma and the real effects of adoption on development and the emotional and physical health of adopted individuals. It is beginning to come to light that many, many adoptees suffer from gastrointestinal problems and inflammatory conditions. There is nothing like the social media for bringing these things to light, when notes can be compared, stories shared and support given. It has been one of the greatest myth busters around for adoptees and something to truly be grateful for!"
